Homemade Yogurt Update

Yeah! Its time to wake our little yokins!

Checked them at 8hrs incubation and decided to let it go to 10hrs. They were a little soupy. After the additional 2hrs we removed them from the oven.

Took their blankets off and transferred them to the fridge.

Once they chilled overnight it was time for the ginny-pig testing. I thought seeing that it was my experiment; I should be the first to try one. Opened one up and mixed it up a little to get to the yummy fruit preserves at the bottom.

First thoughts are that it is soupy verses the nice creamy texture we're used to. However, to my pleasant delight, it tasted wonderful. A little on the sweet side. I'm thinking when using fruit preserves I will pass on the maple syrup. Aaron tried a plain jar and said it was perfect. He really liked the combination of maple syrup and vanilla.

Over all this was a great turn out and I'm looking forward to round two. I think next time I will add in the nonfat dry milk to see if it turns out creamier.
